There are not two contridictory accounts for the creation of mankind.
The supposed second account beginning with Genesis 2:4 is superimposed to Genesis 1:20-30.
I hope you can excuse me for being so forthright, but I found a resource on this domain that went to great lengths to explain away the assumed contradiction. I can't find that resource now.
It is very important to recognize this literary method of superimposing. It is modeled numerous times early in Genesis. As early as verse 1 and 2.
A clear example is in Gen10:25 - one was named Peleg, because in his time the earth was divided. Now go to Gen 11 about the Tower of Babel and superimpose it to Peleg.
I wish you all well because ekklesia is so much more relevant than ecumenism.
